Rarepair Fic Exchange

1) You must be 18 or older to participate.

2) You must have an AO3 account to participate.

3) Your story must be at least 500 words.

4) You must respect DNWs (Do Not Wants).

5) Be respectful of fellow participants.

6) Tag all relevant content warnings.

7) NSFW content is allowed. 
8) RPF is allowed as long as the person requested is over 18. 

9) If you have not completed or defaulted your assignment by the posting date you will be banned from participating in the next round of this exchange.

A: 500 words.

 

Q: What counts as a 'rarepair'?

A: For the purpose of this exchange, any paring that has less than 1,000 works on AO3, as well as any pairings not in the top ten pairings of fandoms with more than 20,000 works

 

Q: Are ampersand (&) pairings allowed? 

A: Yes.

 

Q: What is ‘Nominations’?

A: Nominations is the period where anyone interested in the exchange can suggest fandoms and relationships for the Tag Set.

 

Q: What is the 'Tag Set’?

A: The Tag Set is the collection of tags that you can use on your requests when signing up for the exchange.

 

Q: What is a 'Request’?

A: A request is information about what kind of story you would like to receive. Three requests are required, but you can make up to ten.

 

Q: What is an 'Offer’?

A: An offer is information about what kind of story you are willing to write. Three offers are required, but you can make up to ten.

 

Q: What is an 'Assignment’?

A: An assignment is the request that you have been assigned based on your offers.

 

Q: What is a 'Dear Creator Letter’?

A: Fanlore defines the Dear Creator Letter as “a letter that gift exchange participants write to include in their signups with their optional details so that anyone who wants to write for them knows what they want. Often these letters include DNWs, likes, dislikes, prompts, AUs, kinks, and/or further information about the participant’s thoughts and feelings about the fandom, pairing, and/or character they’ve requested. Generally, both assigned gifters and people who are considering writing treats are free to read and browse the letter, either for inspiration or direct requests.”

 

Q: What does 'DNW’ mean?

A: DNW stands for Do No Want. Fanlore defines DNW as “a broad, nonjudgemental, and undetailed way to refer to things which one wishes not to receive, read, view, or otherwise encounter.”

 

Q: What is a 'Treat’?

A: Fanlore defines a treat as “an extra fanwork produced for a gift exchange in addition to the one work each participant is entitled to receive and required to produce. Treats are usually exempt from the length or size restrictions that the main gifts have to adhere to, but still otherwise follow exchange etiquette — for example, avoiding DNWs and only gifting participants works that match the fandoms, characters, freeforms, and/or prompts they’ve requested for the current exchange.“ For the purpose of this exchange, treats do not have to meet the minimum word count.

 

Q: What is a 'Pinch Hit/Pinch Hitter’?

A: Fanlore defines a Pinch Hit as "a fanwork produced for a request that’s in need of fulfillment either because there were no offers that matched to it or because the participant assigned the request defaulted. Moderators will call for pinch-hitters to ensure that every participant receives something.”
